THE POSITION:

This is a part-time position (21 hours per week). Selected candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule which will include weekends and some evenings.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED equivalency required; one (1) year of general clerical experience required; computer experience required; or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. PLEASE NOTE: Meeting these posted qualifications does not necessarily guarantee an interview. Successful candidate must complete the C.A.L.L. Tutor Training program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists students and tutors in the use of computers, software, and print material; disseminates information about the Literacy Program to prospective students and tutors; assists the Literacy Manager in recruiting students and tutors; forwards from students, tutors, and others to the Literacy Manager all suggestions received regarding items to be added to the software and print collections; coordinates all aspects of initial interviews between prospective students and volunteer evaluators; interacts with students and tutors both over the telephone and in writing; maintains student bi-annual evaluations, including telephone contacts and paperwork; utilizes personal computers and the C.A.L.L. applications; operates office equipment including, but not limited to: copy machine, telephone, and facsimile machine; and performs related duties and responsibilities as required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for standing and walking, frequent lifting and carrying objects of light weight (5-10 pounds), and lifting and carrying objects of moderate weight (12 - 20 pounds); frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and pushing; minimal dexterity in the use of fingers, limbs, or body in the operation of office equipment; utilizing a keyboard, and sitting, or standing for extended periods of time. Tasks require sound perception, visual perception, and oral communications ability.
