For the 2013 anthology in the Las Vegas Writes project -- the fifth in a series of annual books showcasing the city's literary talents -- editor Scott Dickensheets has rounded up a stellar cast of contributors to provide original essays and short fiction on the theme of "progress."  Progress, whether it's civic, political, social, spiritual, personal or physical, is an especially relevant topic in Las Vegas. Among the contributors are novelist and memoirist Kris Saknussemm, horror writer Rena Mason, well-known journalists Geoff Carter and Henry Brean and writer Sarah Jane Woodall.

This event is supported by public funding for the arts through the Nevada Arts Council, a division of the Nevada Department  of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Vegas Valley Book Festival, the city of Las Vegas Office of Cultural Affairs, the Nevada Humanities, the National Endowment for the Humanities and Huntington Press.
