Author: MOB MONTH 2014 - Legacy Of Organized Crime

Author and UNLV professor William Donati will explore the life and times of notorious Mob kingpin Charles "Lucky" Luciano, the man most often refered to as the "father" of modern day organized crime in the United States.  Donati will examine Lucky's early start, criminal career and rise to power in the Midwest and East Coast, his business acumen for splitting territories into the Five Families and creating the Commission, his relationships with other known mobsters of the era such as Meyer Lansky and Frank Costello, his connections to Cuba and Italy, scrapes with law enforcement in America and abroad, and his eventual exile and death, which are some of the key topics in his book, "Lucky Luciano: The Rise and Fall Of A Mob Boss."
