Afro-Cuban, Latin Jazz Drum Classes
Puerto Rican Pro-Procussionist and local instructor, William St. John, teaches this three-week course, covering the fundamentals of Afro-Cuban, Latin and Jazz drum rhythms, including clave, cascara, and tumbao rhythm patterns. Students will practice exercises that increase separation and independence of limbs to successfully play drum sets and hand drums.
Classes are one hour in length and those wishing to attend must bring their own hand drums. You must arrive at least 10 minutes early to set up your equipment.
This course is geared towards beginners ages 10 and older, though all level drummers are welcome.
The February session runs February 2, 9 and 16.
Classes are free and open to the public. For more information, please call 507-3631.
