Elizabeth Casper: Addicted to Our Devices

This new series of paintings by Elizabeth Casper examines our culture's usage of cellular phones.

ARTIST STATEMENT

We are addicted. We love our cell phones. They connect us to everything and everyone. We are unable to disconnect. The devices have become a part of us: our posture has changed, our focus is distracted, and important things are neglected. This collection of paintings centers on our habitual attachment to our cell phones. No matter our age, there is a fascination that takes over our good sense and we cannot let go of that rectangular screen.
