New Year, New You? Don’t Miss the Great Resume Review

If your New Year resolutions include getting a new job or promotion, don’t miss “The Great Resume Review” from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at the West Las Vegas Library.

More than a half dozen resume professionals from One-Stop Career Centers and nonprofit partners will be on hand to offer free resume reviews, as well as provide complimentary LinkedIn headshots. Walk-ins are welcome.

“Many people want to increase their paycheck in the New Year, but the ticket to reaching this goal is a polished resume that shows employers why you are the best candidate for the job,” said Jaime Cruz, Workforce Connections Executive Director. “Most employers will only spend about thirty seconds reading your resume before deciding if you make the cut. At this event, we can help you create a resume and online presence that delivers a great first impression to potential employers.”

The West Las Vegas Library is one of eight valley libraries to host a One-Stop Career Center location as part of the growing partnership between Workforce Connections, Southern Nevada’s Local Workforce Development Board, and local library districts such as the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District.

Through federal funding, One-Stop Career Center staff works with community members to offer job search assistance, as well as help secure opportunities for no-cost training and education. Vocational rehabilitation, adult literacy, and other programs are also available at the centers.

The One-Stop Career Center located inside the West Las Vegas Library is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursdays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and every second Saturday of the month 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

With your free library card, you can also access the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District’s vast collection of employment resources on the District’s website here and here.
