A photographic celebration of postwar cars and trains as American industrial design tried to capture the euphoria of Americans moving into the space and jet age. Bold, bright colors and streamlined design had an impact around the world.
Ron Dorson has been a photographer of the American road for over 40 years. His mission is to capture the spirit, romance and possibilities the new highway systems offered for adventure and mobility.
Dorson has a B.A. and M. A. in sociology. He is the author of two books on the Indianapolis 500, and has had numerous photo exhibits all over the West.
Dorson’s road credentials, which have inspired his work, including driving a Taxi in New York City, driving for Greyhound from 1976-1984, out of Salt Lake City, Reno, Elko, Flagstaff, Albuquerque and Tucson. He was a limousine chauffer in Las Vegas for 16 years and test-drove high performance cars and truck for the Roush Corp.
