Teachers in Libraries

Homework help has been identified as the highest priority need by local parents, teachers, and community leaders. To help fill this critical need, The Library District Foundation's Teachers in Libraries initiative provides FREE after-school homework help and tutoring services for students in grades K-12 on a drop-in basis at Library District branches. During program hours, tutors are available to give one-on-one or small group instruction tailored to individual student learning styles and goals. This free program helps close the achievement gap and ensures that students receive the academic support they need to be successful in school and life.

Clark County School District teachers, teacher's aides, and UNLV students provide over 15,000 hours of homework help to students from over 275 local schools at 13 library branch locations in the Vegas Valley each year. In many locations tutors are bilingual and work with parents and caregivers for whom English is not their first language, teaching them ways to contribute to their child’s education and development.
