Best Buy Teen Tech Center

Debuting a new service model for teens, the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District Foundation has partnered with Best Buy to create a cutting edge teen technology lab and lounge at the Clark County Library.

The Library District has long been the bedrock of early childhood learning in Southern Nevada, and now our libraries are emerging as the place where teens can explore and master new technology and digital skills, follow their passions, create, and collaborate in a supportive environment and even start a business! The tech center works to bridge the digital divide by giving youth access to tech education opportunities, relationships that help to build confidence, and a foundation for school and career success. The center’s approach is designed to empower youth from all backgrounds to become more capable, creative, and confident learners. Teens can drive their own projects according to their interests and ideas, while our staff and mentors provide support and assistance. No prior tech skills are necessary.

By working with partners like the library, Best Buy is committed to preparing one million teens from underserved communities for tech-reliant jobs each year by the year 2020. You can read more about their mission here. In addition, a partnership with The Clubhouse Network also connects teens to a global community of over 100 clubhouses in 20 countries.

The Best Buy Teen Tech Center is designed for project-based and production-based learning opportunities. Teens in middle and high school are welcome to drop into the center and try out all that it has to offer. The technologies that are available at the center include:
