2022 Winter Reading Challenge Launch Kit

Thank you for partnering with us for this year's Winter Reading Challenge!  We hope the information below will help you to share this amazing program for kids and teens on your website and with your social media followers, which will help us to reach as many Southern Nevada families as possible. Las Vegas-Clark County Library District Kicks off the "Read for a Better World" Reading Challenge on January 1

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District challenges kids and teens to start off the new year reading to win cool prizes as part of the "Read for a Better World" Winter Reading Challenge.

Kids and teens are challenged to read at least 5 hours (300 minutes) between January 1 and January 31, 2022, and track their progress on lvccld.beanstack.org, opens a new window or Beanstack's easy-to-use app. Readers can also log reading time on a printable bookmark available at your local library and turn it in to the Youth Services Desk at their local library.

Kids and teens who complete the challenge will win cool prizes in their age category, such as Regal Cinema movie passes!

"The 'Read for a Better World' Winter Reading Challenge offers kids and teens a chance to grow as readers, learn empathy for others, and better understand our beautiful, diverse world," said Kelvin Watson, executive director of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District. "We hope all of our young readers will start the new year by diving into a new book."
"Read for a Better World" is Beanstack's Fifth Annual Winter Reading Challenge, sponsored by Lerner Publishing Group. The challenge encourages readers of all ages to explore diversity, empathy, and action through literature. During the challenge, readers will have unlimited access with no wait time to Lerner's collection of "Read for a Better World" themed books.

Looking for some FREE wintertime fun? January 2022 marks the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District's Fifth Annual Winter Reading Challenge, and kids & teens who complete the challenge will win cool prizes!

This year's theme, Read for a Better World, is a fun and thought-provoking challenge to youth of all ages, encouraging them to explore joyful stories of diversity, learn empathy for others, and discover characters in fiction and nonfiction who inspire, uplift, and help us to better understand our big, beautiful world!

Besides books, kids and teens can also read graphic novels, magazines, poetry, even listening to audiobooks, anything they enjoy! The Library District also has an extensive digital collection of ebooks and downloadable audiobooks through Boundless for Kids and Teens and Hoopla that can be accessed 24/7 from their website! There will also be unlimited access to Lerner Publishing Group's young people's book collection just for this challenge as well as reading recommendations, listed by age group, from the experts from the Youth Services Department.

To complete the Winter Reading Challenge the Library District is asking kids & teens (including babies) up to grade 12 to read (or be read to) for 5 hours (or 300 minutes) during the month of January. From January 1 to January 31, kids & teens can track their reading progress with the easy-to-use Beanstack portal.

¿Buscas diversión de invierno GRATIS? Enero de 2022 marca el Quinto Reto Anual de Lectura de Invierno del Distrito de Bibliotecas de Las Vegas-Clark County, ¡y los niños y adolescentes que completen el reto ganarán premios geniales!

El tema de este año, Lee Para un Mundo Mejor, es un desafío divertido y estimulante para los jóvenes de todas las edades, que los anima a explorar historias alegres de diversidad, aprender a sentir empatía por los demás y descubrir personajes de ficción y no ficción que inspiran, animan, ¡y nos ayudan a comprender mejor nuestro gran y hermoso mundo!

Además de libros, los niños y adolescentes también pueden leer novelas gráficas, revistas, poesía, incluso escuchar audiolibros, ¡cualquier cosa que disfruten! El Distrito de Bibliotecas también tiene una extensa colección digital de libros electrónicos y audiolibros descargables a través de Boundless y Hoopla a los que se puede acceder las 24 horas, los 7 días de la semana desde su sitio web. También habrá acceso ilimitado a la colección de libros para jóvenes de Lerner Publishing Group solo para este reto, así como recomendaciones de lectura, enumeradas por grupo de edad, de los expertos del Departamento de Servicios Juveniles.
